Fundraising Efforts for

Orthoptists Andrea Lee (L) and Glenn Hale (R)

Community fundraising powerhouse Andrea Lee and Glenn Hale will hold their third fundraiser for ANZEF – complete with ANZAC biscuits – this Thursday 25 April from 9am-4pm at Bunnings Nunawading (Melbourne), and will be joined by Sydney-based Fellow Dr Nisha Sachdev. This is to raise money for their upcoming hiking adventure: the ANZEF – See Larapinta Challenge, being led by Nisha in June.

The duo have done a stellar job raising money for ANZEF, with their latest efforts raising an impressive $1,350 at a Bunnings sausage sizzle/cake stall in Nunawading, Victoria, despite stifling 38-degree temperatures, in February. The dedicated orthoptists and humanitarian field trip volunteers sold over 400 snags for the trek, which aims to raise awareness and support for the advancement of eye health equity for Australian, New Zealand and Asia-Pacific communities.

ANZEF would like to thank Andrea and Glenn for their extremely generous fundraising efforts.

If you’re nearby this ANZAC Day, come and see Andrea, Glenn and Nisha at Bunnings Nunawading for a sausage or an ANZAC biscuit! Any support will be greatly appreciated.

Keen on the AFL and with a fierce rivalry between them, the crew will also watch Hawthorn take on the Swans. Nisha is a staunch Swannies supporter, while Glenn and Andrea back Hawthorn and are hoping for a close match!

Contact anzef@ranzco.edu for more information or visit the ANZEF – See Larapinta Challenge website for details about the trek.

Glenn Hale provided a reflection on their first ANZEF fundraising event in November:

“We started soon after 8:30AM and finished around 5PM. We raised several hundred dollars for ANZEF along with engaging the community about eye care in general and the need to help Indigenous communities and doctors going forward. Already, Bunnings has asked if we could come back to help with another event.”
