About us

Our Mission

The Australian and New Zealand Eye Foundation (ANZEF) is the philanthropic arm of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO).

Through supporting projects and partnerships, we advance eye health equity and access, aiming to prevent avoidable blindness and eye disease in Australian, New Zealand, and Asia-Pacific communities.

Our Focus and Priority Pillars

The Foundation draws from the expertise of RANZCO and its members to make a meaningful impact in areas of need for eye health and education. We do this through our three priority pillars.

What We Do

ANZEF contributes to health outcomes by supporting initiatives aimed at upskilling local eye health workforce in rural, regional, and under-resourced communities.

ANZEF supports initiatives to close the gap in eye health for First Nations Peoples, with a focus on:

  • building knowledge and skills in culturally safe ophthalmic practice
  • growing a diverse ophthalmic workforce with increasing First Nations representation and leadership

ANZEF contributes to the health outcomes of our Asia-Pacific neighbours, responding to needs identified by local partners for sustainable capacity building and education.

ANZEF funds vital research into eye diseases and conditions with the aim of improving eye health outcomes and preventing avoidable blindness and disease.
