ANZEF’s Grant Round 2023

ANZEF’s annual grant rounds support initiatives that advance eye health equity and access for communities in Australia, New Zealand, and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

  • Organisations and professionals working in eye health, global health and ophthalmic education

Selection Criteria – What We’re Looking For

Education, research and awareness/advocacy projects which demonstrate the potential for meaningful impact on eye health equity and access for Australian, New Zealand or Asia-Pacific communities. For Australian-based projects, objectives may align with relevant priorities of RANZCO’s Vision 2030 and beyond.

Focus areas can include, but are not limited to:

Projects are to be delivered in Australia, New Zealand or the wider Asia-Pacific region and must not be for political association or religious purposes.

Applications for grants of up to AU $50,000 will be considered.

Governance

Applications are assessed by the ANZEF Program Selection and Grants Sub-Committee and shortlisted applications are reviewed and approved by the ANZEF Committee. Administration of the grants program is undertaken by RANZCO’s Foundation (ANZEF) team. Meet ANZEF’s people.

Grantmaking decisions are guided by the objectives and limitations set out in the RANZCO Constitution and requirements based on ANZEF being a Deductible Gift Recipient, Class 1 PBI.

Guiding Principles

  • In line with RANZCO’s expertise in ophthalmological education, standard setting, and advocacy, ANZEF supports initiatives and partnerships in three priority areas:
    • Education and Capacity Building
    • Research and Innovation
    • Advocacy and Awareness
  • Foundation funding and partnership decisions are guided by how they will advance ANZEF’s mission and contribute to RANZCO’s strategic priorities.

Grant Conditions

  • If you are successful you will be expected to help ANZEF communicate about your project and how the funds will support your aims. This may include (but is not limited to) sharing photos; relevant information about training / education, public health and other relevant outcomes; participating in interviews and coordinating testimonials from your organisation and participants. ANZEF will liaise with you and work respectfully around privacy considerations and cultural sensitivities. You will be responsible for securing permission to film and photograph forms.
  • All funding will require acknowledgement that RANZCO and ANZEF may use the work and outcomes for promotional purposes.
  • Grant recipients may be invited to present on their work and its outcomes at the RANZCO Congress after the project is delivered.
  • Reporting from funding recipients will be required in line with:
    • compliance and audit requirements
    • funding amount, size, and scope of the project
    • ANZEF strategic aims and impact evaluation needs
    • external commitments to other organisations such as regulatory bodies, sponsors and/or other funding partners
